Reception Class Admissions

Although you can contact school to come and have a look around and express an interest in your child attending Sacred Heart, all Reception school places need to be applied for online via the council website.

Calderdale Council then notify us of the children who have expressed a preference of attending our school. If we are oversubscribed then places are allocated in line with our admission policy which is attached below for entry in to school September each year.

Mid Term Admissions

If you are looking for a mid year admission or for any other year group other than Reception then you will need to contact to school to check availability in the requested year group. If there is space then you will need to apply for a place via the Calderdale Schools Admission Process called BACS all of which can be explained to you when you contact school.

In Key Stage 1 and EYFS (Reception) the maximum allowed in any class is 30 it is only exceptional circumstances that an appeal would result in admissions which exceed this number.

In Key Stage 2 (Years 3, 4, 5  & 6) there is more flexibility and although our planned admission number in each class is 30, you would have the option to appeal this decision via the diocese if there are no spaces. They would look at each case on its own merits and apply the admission policy relating to that year group. Details of the appeals process would be made available to you should you wish do this.
