In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

Jubilee of Hope 2025
Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament
As part of the Jubilee for 24 Hours of the Lord and Pope Francis’ Year of Hope, children from Sacred Heart joined other schools from our trust at All Saints Catholic College. During their visit, pupils spent time in quiet reflection before the Blessed Sacrament and shared their school’s prayer petitions. Following this, they took part in a Revelation session delivered by Stacy Rhys-Hill, Lay Chaplain at All Saints, supported by students from the Chaplaincy Team.
Lent and Easter
Ash Wednesday
On Ash Wednesday, our school gathered together and received Ashes to mark the start of the season of Lent.
Ash Wednesday marks the start of Lent when we’re invited, for forty days, to find time for prayer and fasting. The season is dedicated to spiritual growth as we prepare to commemorate the suffering and death of Jesus Christ and the celebration of his resurrection at Easter. These six weeks mirror the amount of time that Jesus spent in the desert to fast and pray.
The Ashes, imposed on our foreheads in the sign of the cross, are an outward sign of our inward sorrow for our sins and of our commitment to Jesus as our Lord and Saviour.

Stations of the Cross
The Stations of the Cross refer to a series of depictions of Christ's journey. They represent 14 key moments in the trial, crucifixion, and burial of Jesus Christ.
Year 5 led us through the Stations on Friday 11th April.

Remembrance 2025
Our Chaplaincy Team led our Remembrance Liturgy for the whole school and Year 6 led us in prayer during our Remembrance Mass in November. Our Year 6 pupils also collaborated to write class poem which was shared in mass and liturgy.
Our Year 6 pupils worked together to write a poem to help us all to remember the importance of Remembrance Sunday:
‘We Remember Them’ by Great Oaks
Bones buried deep in the trenches,
Soldiers falling all around.
People praying for a way out,
Bullets flying at the speed of sound.
We Remember Them
Shivering dogs trying to support,
Fearless horses charging towards the battlefield.
Animals blindly following their loved ones,
The soldiers knew their fate was sealed.
We Remember Them
Brave soldiers crawling through the mud,
Towards the inevitable fight.
Scared and missing home,
Unable to sleep at night.
We Remember Them
Medicine and bandages used by the medics,
The marvellous man running away.
Wounded soldiers lay in their graves,
Medics are helpless to let them stay.
We Remember Them
Frightened families waiting for their letters,
Children shaking in fear of the bombs dropping down.
Waiting anxiously for that knock at the door,
The crumbling place that used to be our town.
We Remember Them
Poppies bloom where soldiers lay,
A quiet field of crimson red.
Amidst the loss, they find their way,
A symbol of the souls now dead.
