First Sacraments

Our Staff Sacraments Team will be leading the sessions, supported by you, to help your child prepare for the Sacrament they will be receiving.

If you cannot make the sessions at our school for your child's preparation please let us know which other school you will be attending so

we can ensure they have resources for you.  Thank you!  

 Sacrament of Reconciliation (Year 3 upwards)

Children can receive this sacrament once they are in Year 3 or above.

This year, children recieved this sacrament on Saturday 29th March at a Deanery celebration at St Bernard's Church in Boothtown.

Our Year 3 children made their Sacrament of Reconciliation on the 29th March 2025.

Sacrament of First Holy Communion (Year 4 upwards)

Sacramental Preparation Sessions for 2025 will begin in the Spring of 2025. Information about preparation sessions can be found in the 'Deanery Sacramental Preparation Dates' document at the top of this page.

Children recieved the sacrament at Sacred Heart & St Patrick's Church in Sowerby Bridge on Sunday 18th May at 11am.

Sacrament of Confirmation (Year 6 upwards)

Children can be confirmed once they are in Year 6. We welcome children from the local area and wider Halifax Deanery to join us - even if you are in secondary school.

Our Year 6 children received the Sacrament of Confirmation on the 18th November 2025, at St Mary's, Halifax.
