Music Curriculum Intent
Pupils will
- ✓ be confident to compose, creating original, imaginative, and fluent work
- ✓ be confident to perform their work to an audience
- ✓ have an awareness of genres and an appreciation of different musical traditions and use this to critique each other’s work and compose their own
- ✓ use musical terminology correctly at an age appropriate level
- ✓ listen attentively to a variety of music and discuss the features of the piece
- ✓ demonstrate an understanding of the historical, social, and cultural origins of music
- ✓ have an interest and appreciation for music of all types
Music Curriculum Implementation
- music will be taught as a discreet lesson each week in Key Stage one using Charanga
- in half terms when performances are taking place music will be taught as part of the singing for the performance
- in Key Stage 2 music will taught using a combination of lessons delivered by the class teacher using Charanga, and instrument and voice teaching by outside providers

- able to discuss and evaluate music using the correct terminology
- produce compositions using pitched instruments
- understand the positive emotional and cultural impact of music
