It was lovely to be able to invite parents into school again to watch the Easter Bonnet and Scene Parade. All the winners received a £5 Tesco Gift Voucher!
On Thursday 3rd March 2022, we celebrated World Book Day. Pupils were encouraged to dress as their favourite book character and in our classes, we explored the book ‘The Invisible’ by Tom Percival. We are super impressed with their contributions to World Book Day and the work they produced.
We also hosted a competition – Design a Book Character Potato – and you’ll be in awe of some of the entries. Very creative so thank you families for getting involved!

Some of our Y6 pupils have spent several weeks preparing for their Confirmation. On 16th February 2022, at St Malachy’s Church Ovenden, our confirmation candidates were sealed with the Holy Spirit by Bishop Marcus. We are incredibly proud of them renewing their baptismal promises and confirming their faith.
Thank you so much to all the children who took the time to create either an Easter Scene or an Easter Bonnet, they have been judged this week by our Chair of Governors, Mrs Jo Woodhead. She was so impressed with all the entries! All the winners receive a £5 Tesco Voucher.

Well we can definitely say this year’s World Book Day was slightly different to previous years and we had to go virtual! We decided as a staff team to excite the children (and parents) by taking part in The Masked Reader and it went down a treat.
For those in school, we dressed in PJ’s and had a lovely hot chocolate made by our kitchen. The children remote learning were able to join in the fun via Zoom and our lessons/work packs were filled with lots of book activities.
We had a really fun time and even got to choose a World Book Day book from Miss Watson’s bookshop (kindly donated by The Thoughtful Spot bookshop) so all got to go home with a book.
We can’t wait until we can celebrate properly and all together again in the Summer term.
Watch out for more information.
